A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ADOPTION TRIAD OUTREACH My husband, who was adopted when he was a child, decided in 1995 (as many adoptees do) to begin searching for his biological parents. The internet was becoming popular and more widely used then, and he found it easy to communicate with other adoptees who were also searching for their biological families. He also discovered that while there were many organizations that would help him search, there really wasn't any type of organization that was available specifically to help him understand and deal with all of the feelings and repercussions that he was experiencing during his search, the reunion, and the time after. After talking to numerous other adoptees who felt the same way, in February of 1996 we began an on-line organization we named Adoption Triad Outreach, or ATO. Adoption Triad Outreach was the first website of its kind on the internet to enable triad* members from AOL, Prodigy, Compuserve and around the world to share resources and interact with each other in discussion forums and multiple chatrooms. Through ATO, countless numbers of people were and are still able to network, helping each other deal with a deeply emotional and often confusing situation, and offering their help and support to others. Click here if you'd like to visit the Adoption Triad Outreach website. *The Triad consists of Adoptees, Birth Families, and Adoptive Families
